Hello my clan of the Crave Bears! Today’s show is all about Cravings! It’s what this show is all about and it’s especially important in the New Year! Today you’ll hear a little about my own personal story and how I came to discover the truth about our cravings.

I was raised in Portland, OR by 2 hippies! We lived on an old organic farm and my Mother actually had a gardening radio show. Knowing where my food came from was something that I grew up with. It didn’t matter though, because I still became a sugar addict. I spent every dime of my allowance on candy and soda. My sugar addiction even got so bad that I began going to the church down the street by myself, because I discovered the kids in Sunday School got cookies and Kool-Aid! I started working at a coffee shop at the age of 14. I was a dishwasher and got to lick the bowls of icing before I washed them! Heaven!

As an adult the sugar ended up catching up with me:

  • I gained 30 pounds
  • I was exhausted
  • I started to get depressed
  • I was bloated
  • My menstrual cycle was a mess
  • I was getting migraines almost everyday
  • I was eating handfuls of Advil to deal with the headaches

I finally went to the Dr. and told him what my symptoms were. I left there with 2 prescriptions – Prozac and painkillers! I have prescription drug abuse in my family, so I know the downward spiral that these prescriptions could bring about. I made an appointment with a different Dr. to get a second opinion. He talked to me and discovered that my eating was causing most of my issues. This set me on the path to healing myself.

  • In the making of the film, traditional Dr’s weren’t convinced Morgan would be negatively impacted
  • Super Size Me was the launch of my first steps in my new career
  • My divorce was extremely stressful
  • I was vegan but began craving meat
  • Nothing I tried would cure my cravings
  • When I listened to my body, my body felt great
  • My body told me that it needed something different that what I was feeding it to be healthy

  • There are 4 root causes of cravings
  • Yeast and bacteria in your body crave sugar
  • Meat cravings can be cause by iron and magnesium deficiencies
  • Many of us are overfed but under nourished
  • Cravings can have an emotional origin
  • Cravings can be caused by physical inadequacies
  • Even as adults, we need to play more
