170 Goddesses Get Paid

Today, I want to go into battle against “The Goddess Myth.” A TIME Magazine article attempted to address one of our culture’s most pervasive problems, but I think they missed the big picture. Our media paints a picture of perfect, goddess-like womanhood.  You’ve seen the pictures: the natural birthing mama with a fully organic household and effortless beauty in spades. These images can be damaging because they never allow for imperfections. Real goddesses had both a light and a dark side. Rather than saying women shouldn’t compare themselves to goddesses, the article actually states that women aren’t worthy of goddess-like reverence. Apparently, we have to be perfect to be revered. That isn’t true of female deities from cultures around the globe. I’m going to show you how.It is impeccable timing that I have the incredible Claire Wasserman with me today. Claire is the mastermind behind Ladies Get Paid, a program that connects women in business to other women to help bridge the knowledge gap. We’ve talked about the wage gap, the glass ceiling, and how women feel unable to negotiate. Well, now you are going to be connected to the resources that tell you how to fight it. Claire knows that many of these problems are systematic, but that doesn’t stop her from joining together communities of women to fight the system. What is beautiful about Ladies Get Paid is that the focus is on women taking agency and advocating for themselves. It’s time for some things to change. Women should feel like they have a place in the workforce. Organizations like Ladies Get Paid are making that happen. Be a part of the change, and give this episode a listen.Music Credit: My good friend Lindsay Katt - https://lindsaykatt.bandcamp.com/track/stick-by-me
