176 Comedy Will Save Us with Lizz Winstead
With so much crazy darkness going on in the world around me, I am looking to comedians for inspiration, truth, and just a little bit of comic relief. It’s my belief that comedians have to be incredibly smart to put their finger on the truth of the matter, and then turn it on its head in a funny way. I have been watching educated, woke comedy so much recently, that I knew I needed to bring some of this inspiration to your ears as well. This is why I am super excited to introduce (or maybe re-introduce) to you Lizz Winstead. Lizz is a Creator, a producer, a writer… and she is hilarious. I’m lucky to have her here! One of Lizz’s claims to fame is that she is the co-creator of The Daily Show. When she’s not spinning comedy gold, Lizz is standing up for women everywhere by advocating for women’s reproductive health. Her nonprofit, Lady Parts Justice, stands up for women by providing access to healthcare and information about reproductive health. Very soon, Lizz is hosting an online telethon, Life Is A Living Nightmare, that is sure to be hilarious as well as informative. I would encourage everyone to give it a watch when it premieres on February 1st.Above all, Lady Part’s Justice is about informing and educating the public about the issue of reproductive health. Today, Lizz is bringing that huge knowledge base to wake us up to all the terrible legislation, dangerous trends, and inspiring activism that is happening across the world. Her chosen vehicle to inform the public? Comedy! Lizz uses humor to call out hypocrisy and challenge us to change. She believes that change is happening if only we would use our voices to stand up for the basic rights of our fellow human beings. Trans, Cis, Female, Male…everyone deserves the rights of reproductive health and choice. If you aren’t fired up over this issue, you will be once Lizz is done with you! Go ahead and give this episode a listen, and don’t forget to support the cause!Music Credit: My good friend Lindsay Katt - https://lindsaykatt.bandcamp.com/track/stick-by-me
