5 Secrets of Creative Leaders: #4 Commit to Your Creativity
A Committed Practice Helps YOU Stay Strong and Flexible
From Danielle King's fusion of art and technology to Savannah Niles' design leadership in virtual reality, influential women are redefining the intersection of creativity and innovation.
The top creative leaders I know prioritize their own personal creative practice to stay strong, flexible, and always ready to inspire with their ideas.
But can YOU practice your creativity? You don’t need to have attended art school. Keep it simple:
1. Interact with nature. Collect twigs, leaves & flowers and construct a mandala.
2. Create on index cards. Join the Index-Card-a-Day Challenge [ICAD] each June/July. The goal is to create something on an index card each day.
3. Collage strips or squares of ripped up junk mail on cardboard. Get a glue stick and old papers, rip and tear, and stick them on cardboard from the recycling bin. The point is to use free materials for a “junk” collage.
In the past 20 years of coaching, it’s clear to me that the top Creative Leaders commit to a continuous creative practice for personal growth. They prioritize a joyful creative exploration in life, honing their own skills, ensuring they stand out with an ongoing stream of interesting ideas.
Never Stop Growing
Creative leaders see creativity as a muscle that requires regular exercise. By dedicating time to daily creative practices, they ensure their skills are always evolving and expanding.
